Georgia Atkin- Smith

Dr Georgia Atkin-Smith

Dr Georgia Atkin-Smith is a Cell Biologist at the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research. In 2019, Georgia completed her PhD at La Trobe University where she investigated the role of white blood cell death in viral infection for which she was awarded the Nancy Millis Medal for the top 5% of PhD theses. Georgia has published 15 papers, frequently presents at national and international conferences and has amassed over 20 awards including a recent feature as one of the Herald Sun’s 25 under 25, Young People to Watch. Also known as Some Blonde Scientist, Georgia is a passionate science communicator and advocate of women in STEM.

Georgia is our Keynote speaker and will be speaking about her journey to a career in science.
